2A - Bug List

Bug List:
  1. When people walk slow on the sidewalk or in front of me, especially when I am trying to walk to class or when I am in a rush.
    • People tend to walk slow because of the congestion around campus between class periods and the University of Florida population is large.
  2. When people are too pessimistic and do not look on the bright side
    • People may be negative due to bad past experiences in their life or because the people that they are surrounded by may also be pessimistic.
  3. When people are too arrogant and think they are too good for specific things
    • Arrogance exists due to others raising their ego and may be too privileged.
  4. When people do not use a turn signal in traffic, specifically on the highway
    • Turn signals are not used sometimes because the driver may be in a rush or because they do not considerate about other's safety.
  5. When people are careless when it comes to school work or their future
    • Some students are careless with school because their mind may be clouded with too much social life or they are surrounded by others who also do not take their future seriously.
  6. When people go into the elevator before you can leave it
    • If someone comes into the elevator without acknowledging that someone else is coming out, they probably did not consider it or they are too concerned with reaching their destination.
  7. When people do not hold the door when they are entering in front of me
    • Some may not hold the door because they did not know someone was behind them or they were not taught to do it.
  8. Being ignored when someone has acknowledged that I have reached out to them
    • People tend to ignore others because they do not think the person or the topic at hand is worth their time.
  9. When people have bad grammar, such as not knowing the difference between "you’re" and "your" or "their," "they're," and "there."
    • Correct grammar may not be used because they were not taught the difference in school or by others.
  10. Having to repeat myself more than once after speaking clearly
    • People ask others to repeat themselves because they were not interested enough in the topic, because they are not good listeners, or they are trying to multi-task.
  11. Slow and bad customer service at a restaurant
    • Customer service may be slow because the place is busy or there are not enough people working efficiently. The customer service may be bad because the workers may be poorly trained or they are new.
  12. When people bite their nails in public
    • People may bite their nails due to anxiety or out of habit.
  13. When places do not have a water fountain
    • Some places do not have water fountains because it is an additional cost.
  14. Being able to hear people’s music through their earplugs in the library.
    • Hearing other's music through their headphones is possible because they are playing their music at too much of a high volume.
  15. Having to pay extra for dairy alternatives, such as soy milk or almond milk, at coffee places, especially Starbucks.
    • People must pay extra for dairy alternatives because these alternatives are an extra cost for the business and they would lose profit if customers did not have to pay for them.
  16. People who are closed-minded and refuse to be open to other people's opinions, especially when it comes so politics and religion.
    • People are closed-minded because they have tunnel vision toward their own opinion and what only may benefit themselves.
  17. When people do not tie their shoes and are susceptible to tripping.
    • Some do not tie their shoes because they are too lazy to step aside and take the time to tie their shoe in the middle of walking.
  18. If I come over to someone's place, the place must not be messy and unorganized.
    • People do not clean their place because they may not mind having their belongings scattered, rather than organized.
  19. When people throw their gum out of their car window during traffic.
    • Individuals may toss their gum because they do not have something in their car that they can put the chewed gum into, such as a piece of paper or an empty bottle.
  20. Being bombarded by robot calls all day from telemarketers.
    • People get telemarketing calls because they use automatic number identification and have a database to get people's numbers.
Reflection:
Personally, it was not difficult for me to list things that bug me. These "bugs" were easy to think of because I notice the occurrence of these things in my daily life. Most of these are prevalent on a college campus. While I am tolerant to many things, most of the things that bother me occur due to people being inconsiderate, selfish, or lazy.

  1. Nicolette,

Overall I think you had a good bug list and reflection and I agree with a lot of your bugs. To be specific, numbers 1, 13, and 20 also really bug me as well. I agree that it was not hard to come up with the bug list because I just had to think about my life experiences from the past week, and just from that I was able to think of my list. One thing I don't understand is why other people biting their nails bothers you. For some people it is a way to cope with anxiety. Other than that, again, I think a solid post.

  2. Hi Nicolette,

I think you did a great job on this post. I agree with a lot of the bugs you have in your list, especially the one about people walking too slow as this is one of my biggest pet peeves as well when trying to make my way around campus. One thing i think could be improved is to add more bugs that aren't the result of someone being lazy, but are logistical problems where a service or product could be introduced. All in all this was a good post and you included a lot of bugs that I didn't even think about.

  3. Nicolette,
I think you had a great view of this post. Some of the bugs you that you posted bother me as well. For example, when people throw their trash out of their car during traffic. I think it is very hazardous when there are cars behind. Another bug that I completely agree with you is when people do not turn on their blinker when they are making turns. Overall, I agree with you that people should hold more responsibility to themselves.

  4. Nicolette,
I had a great time reading your bug list! I agree with almost all the bugs that you have listed in your list. The biggest bugs that I agreed with were number 13 and 19.
As a frequent user of local and regional gyms, I always get extremely frustrated when there are no water fountains to refill one's own water and makes the users buy individual water every time.
Also, as a daily driver, I hate to see my car get damaged because of foreign material from the road that people disposed of from their cars.
