11A - Idea Napkin No. 1


1.     I am Nicolette Giordano and I value connections and working well with others. I aspire to pursue a career that is rooted from relationships and teamwork. Networking is a pivotal factor in the business world, especially in entrepreneurship. This past summer, I interned at law firm in the foreclosure office and worked with the title team. This experience educated me on how important it is to fluently work with others. I enjoy taking on challenges and problems with others because teamwork leads to learning more about different perspectives. I have grown from working on a team and at a law firm because it shows me how important individual roles are and how detail-oriented one must be in order to be successful as a whole. Teamwork has also improved my communication skills. If I were to start a business that aided the inefficiency of grocery deliveries, I would make sure I collaborated with these grocery companies on a professional and respectful scale by maintaining a good relationship.
2.     The service would be able to provide grocery delivery to areas who currently cannot receive groceries at their residence, due to the limited delivery zones. Customers would also receive their groceries faster.
3.     This service is offered to anybody who desires to get their groceries delivered to their residency. While this service would be offered in as many areas as possible, it would be emphasized in college towns. While a chunk of college students do not have transportation, they are in a higher need of grocery delivery.
4.     Grocery stores would pay money to use this service because it would increase their profits. With expanded delivery zones, more customers are able to use the delivery service and purchase more groceries.
5.     While grocery delivery itself sets a grocery store apart from another, increased efficiency and convenience would allow the grocery stores to be head of those who do not. This service would show how much these grocery stores stress the importance of their customers.

    I agree with you that effective communication and teamwork are essential for one to be successful in the workplace. A team needs to have constant contact and connect to maximize its effectiveness. Moreover, I like how you mentioned that this grocery delivery service should focus on college towns. Therefore, they can ensure a high demand and offer this service while earning a profit.

28A - Your Exit Strategy

1.      Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children? I would not sell my business in the next five years for a large return. I would rather try to allow the business to mature and grow in order for it to last for a long time. I do not think that business is 100% about profit, but also having a meaningful cause behind it. The Opportunity: People who need groceries delivered lack a source of efficient services, for existing delivery companies do not deliver fast enough due to a high demand and inconvenient location. Grocery companies that deliver, such as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Walmart and Publix, need to expand their delivering zones to make food delivery more convenient. As a result of these next five interviews that I conducted, I asked similar questions that I asked in part one.
