16A - What's Your Secret Sauce?

1.     Five ways I have human capital:
·      Honest – Honesty is something I put on a pedestal when it comes to human capital. Being able to trust someone is crucial, especially in the entrepreneurial world.
·      Compassionate – I find it important to be sincerely compassionate towards others, especially for those who are closest in my life. I find this easy because compassion is rooted from trying your best to be understanding and putting yourself in others’ shoes.
·      Loyal – When there is something in my life that I truly care about, whether it comes to family, friends, or my studies, I am supportive and faithful towards it. I am always there at the drop of a hat for those whom I care about.
·      Ambitious – I find myself to be very determined in reaching a goal when I have one in mind. If I have a particular goal, I will do anything in my power to reach it.
·      Positive – I use optimism as a motivation tactic to get back up on my feet. Being positive can help people realize that they can learn from any failure or struggle. This is especially important in the entrepreneurial world, for many entrepreneurs fail and learn from it.

2.     Interviews: My mom and four very close friends
My mom:
·      My mom talked about how I always give to others without expecting things in return. She also mentioned that I am kind.

Lanna:
·      Lanna is my best friend, whom I have known since I was a little kid. She talked about how I make sure I take care of and love others through my compassion. She mentioned that I am also very rational and how I do not procrastinate.

Chase:
·      Chase is a friend of mine who talks about how I have always been open to learning new things and that I have taught him a lot about the world around him.

Carly:
·      Carly is also a close friend whom I have known since I was young. She talks about how hard I work and that I spread positivity and compassion.

Mackenzie:
·      Mackenzie is a friend of mine whom I have a history of struggling through hard courses with throughout high school.  She talks about how driven I am toward my work, career, and my goals.

3.     Reflect on Differences
The way others have described me is very similar in the way that I see myself. I believe that my interviewees were spot on because I also believe that I am hard-working, open to learning, compassionate, and a positive person. What family and close friends think of you are often true because they are people who know you the best.

Comments

  1. I agree with you that people who are close to you know you the best and can sometimes point out things that you did not realize yourself. I feel like I have already had a broad impression by reading through this post. I'm sure you are a positive person with a great personality and the right attitude in life. I think this assignment can genuinely help us understand ourselves a little bit more.

  2. Nicolette,
I find it interesting to see that your interviewees described you similarly to how you would describe yourself. Since I chose my interviewees based on what kind of environment and what kind of setting that we met or interact with, all of their answers were generally different. Some described me as the loudest and the most talkative person in a room, and one expressed me as a person who wouldn't make private conversations unless necessary.
