18A - Create a Customer Avatar
For my segment, the prototypical customer is someone who is
does not have transportation. Most whom I have related to this topic to were
college students, who live in a college town. While not all people who get
their groceries delivered are college students, most of these customers are
busy and do not want to waste time on going to the grocery store and strolling up
and down the isles for food. The customer also may be more likely to be living
on a budget, for grocery shopping online prevents impulse buys. Someone who
grocery shops online is not likely to have children because parents have the responsibility
of feeding their whole family very frequently and usually have a car. Many
parents tend to have the need to grocery shop a few times a week.
I am similar to the customer because I am a college student,
who lives in a college town without transportation. I find it hard to find the
time to walk or uber to Publix for groceries. It takes a big chunk of time out
of my day and I resort to eating out very often. I have gotten my groceries
delivered once or twice before and it can be very convenient. I am also only
providing food for myself. I do not think it is a coincidence that I am similar to the prototypical customer because it was something I noticed when I thought about getting my groceries delivered.

ReplyDeleteNicolete,
ReplyDeleteI think that you did a great job of identifying the prototypical consumer. I agree with you that it can take a long time for someone who does not have transportation to shop for groceries. One of the interesting points I found in the post is that you stated that online shopping could help prevent impulse grocery purchases. I think you pointed out a great point on that aspect. Overall, I think you did a great job on this assignment.
Nicolette,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job identifying your customer avatar. College students and young adults would clearly be the main demographic of your target segment. Another possibility I think you could look at is people that live in cities. A lot of these people don't have cars and instead walk or take public transport to their destinations. I think these people would find great value in this service, and it with how dense the populations are in these cities, that is a lot of people to add to your segment. Overall, great post.
Nicolette,
ReplyDeleteBased on your customer avatar, I can see that you are targeting a customer segment that is composed of individuals who are challenged by time, money, and transportation (geography). Since these are challenges that will go away for these (mostly young) customers, I believe that you will need to develop a strategy to maintain the number of customers who will still use this grocery delivery service even after they overcome aforementioned limitations.
